Sort trash properly
RESIDENTS who put recyclable waste in the wrong bin may face a 50 yuan (US$7.9) fine as the city works on tougher regulations for household garbage management.
The draft requires residents and organizations to sort garbage into four separately labeled bins - recyclable waste, kitchen waste, hazardous waste and other waste.
The draft also states that car owners will also face fines for parking in spots reserved for garbage collection vehicles.
Authorities will announce a hotline and timetable for trash collection and transportation. Residents can call the number in case of emergency.
Hangzhou has been seeking ways to reduce waste since 2009.
It has so far opened 281 waste transporting lines and completed the renovation of 42 wastetransfer stations.
