Work on expressways
IN December work will begin on three expressways as the city tries to ease traffic congestions.
The 7.33-kilometer Rainbow Avenue linking the east and west sections of Raocheng Expressway, a loop road around Hangzhou, will become the city’s main artery. The elevated expressway will have six lanes, three in each direction.
After being put into service, it will ease car travel from Xiaoshan District to downtown Hangzhou.
The 9.14-kilometer Genshan Expressway from Pengbu Interchange to Donghu Road will also be an elevated road and can cut the travel time between northern line of Raocheng Expressway and Donghu Road.
The westbound extension of Xiangjisi Road is a 2.5-kilometer underground road with two lanes each way. The road will be a rapid link between Shangtang and Moganshan roads in the north of the city.
