Ideal location lures tenants for many heavy industries
SHANGHAI Lingang Industrial Park has an ideal location. It's adjacent to Pudong International Airport to the north and Yangshan Deep Water Port to the south.
It is connected by the S2, G1501 (Shanghai Suburb Ring Expressway), Liangang Avenue and other expressways. It is also part of Shanghai's urban rail transit network; tracks either under construction or planned will pass through several stations in Lingang.
The area, which spans Pudong New Area and Fengxian District, is a center for manufacturing power (nuclear, windy, hydro and gas) generation, transmission and distribution equipment; ocean engineering equipment; home-grown automobiles and parts; large construction machinery; and aviation equipment.
Its Electrical Equipment Base is expanding rapidly. Tenants include the Shanghai Electric Heavy Machinery Base, Siemens Group, Areva T&D, ABB and Huayi Electrical Apparatus Group.
Producers of marine engines, control systems and critical equipment are based in the park. They include CSSC-MES, Wartsila, Volvo Penta, Hulin Heavy Industry, CSSC Marine Parts and Shanghai Marine Equipment Research Institute.
The industrial area has attracted domestic auto makers, such as SAIC Roewe, Yanfeng Visteon and Yanfeng Johnson. The area contains a complete industrial chain from auto design, manufacturing to maintenance.
Manufacturers of port equipment, such as lifters, movers and containers are operating in the park. Lingang has become an investment destination for leading international construction and logistics equipment companies such as Caterpillar, Kalmar, Konecranes and China International Marine Containers Group.
Aviation industries have landed there. Tenants include producers of aviation equipment for China's Civil Mainline Aircraft Project. In 2009, Lingang Industrial Park signed an agreement with AVIC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co Ltd to jointly build a national manufacturing base for civil aviation equipment.
It's home to many leading logistics operators and suppliers such as Maersk, COSCO, CSCL, DHL, UPS and Caterpillar Logistics.
