Ancient culture’s artifacts on display
AN exhibition entitled “Ancient Civilization — Liangzhu Culture in South China” has been featured at Jiading Museum since January 25 and is due to close on April 24.
Liangzhu culture dates from around 4,000 to 5,300 years ago and artifacts were mainly excavated in the Taihu Lake area on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
The first discovery was made in Hangzhou’s Yuhang District in 1936. The artifacts uncovered point to the culture having had advanced rice-growing techniques, delicate jade ware and fine pottery.
The exhibition showcases 130 exhibits including examples of jade and pottery.
The exhibition is jointly hosted by Jiading Museum and Liangzhu Museum.
