Anting replaces old industry with enterprise
A SHAKE-UP of economic development at Jiading District's Anting Town has seen the elimination of low-productivity enterprises and the introduction of businesses with sound future performance.
In the past five years, 186 low-productivity enterprises have been eliminated, which set more than 266.67 hectares of land free. Then the government introduced dozens of key auto parts enterprises and headquarters, including Delphi Packard and Kostal-Huayang.
Last year, the energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product of the town's above-scale industrial enterprises fell by 18.5 percent.
Taxation of high-tech enterprises accounted for over 70 percent of the town's total. Four city-level technology centers together with seven corporations won an innovation fund of 32 million yuan (US$4.69 million).
A complete auto industry chain has now been formed in the town.
Last year, the town's government re-purchased 40 low-productivity enterprises, which vacated lands occupying 39.8 hectares.
Among them was Kezhu Company, which has now been replaced by a high-tech company called Lilong Huanbao. The new company, which has registered capital of 300 million yuan, is expected to generate annual output of more than 1 billion yuan. It now occupies 7 hectares that had fallen into disuse at the old Kezhu site.
