Better medical service for increasing patients

THE hot weather puts a strain on hospitals in Jiading District as the number of patients usually rises during the summer.

Hospitals are trying to improve service.

Jiading District Central Hospital, for example, has set up a rescue team for the multi-wounded after seeing its emergency department receive up to 1,100 patients a day on average since summer began, about one third more than peak days at other times of the year.

The surgeon in the team who first receives the patient will be responsible for the treatment from the beginning to the end.

One of the successful cases is the emergency treatment for a resident surnamed Chen involved in a traffic accident.

When Chen was sent to the hospital, doctor Jin Zhen'e had a quick check and provided emergency treatment. Then a joint consultation was held by doctors from various departments. They determined that Chen's brain and internal organs were severely damaged. After appropriate treatment, Chen's life was saved.

Meanwhile, Jiading District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital has introduced a reservation system.

Many patients from neighboring Kunshan and Taicang cities had to queue at mid-night to register for seeing famous doctors at the hospital, but now they can make a reservation in advance and avoid long queues.

Nanxiang Hospital has set up a nursing station for cardiovascular patients. One of the beneficiaries is Yu Yuwen, 83, who said he had to cover a long distance for the treatment in the downtown hospitals but now can get convenient service at the local hospital.
