LOTUS blossomed recently at Jiading New Town, adding a green touch to the area.
With the establishment of the Lotus Culture Research Institute, Jiading New Town is making efforts to fully explore the culture of the plant and build itself into a "Lotus New Town."
With an aim of "a lake within 1,000 meters and a green belt within 100 meters," the new town's green coverage rate reaches 40 percent, 5 percentage points higher than the standard for a national forest city.
Four large scale scenery projects are under construction now and the total planned green area for these pursuits will reach 2 million square meters.
The new town's central area covers 17 square kilometers. The local government hopes to provide an ecological living environment for Jiading residents.
