Charity dreams coming true ...
FIVE companies and institutions including Shanghai Jiebao King Developing Co and Jiading District Library have signed agreements to help volunteers realize their charity dreams. The district has collected 27 such dreams so far.
Among them is Zhang Biao, a volunteer who is just 1.2 meters tall. He has pedaled more than 30,000 kilometers over the past 13 years to deliver newspapers and letters to villagers in Anting Town’s Lianxi Village, riding on a toy bicycle.
At first there were just over 20 households in the area. As more people moved in, the number of newspaper subscribers rose to 150, with the number of newspapers increasing to over 500.
Zhang said he dreamed of buying an electric bike, however, due to his height he couldn’t find one anywhere. Now he is to get an electric bike especially made for someone his size.
Also having his dream come true is retired teacher Shen Qihua, who helped to set up two Hope Primary Schools in east China’s Jiangxi Province.
His dream is to help 10 students to visit Shanghai, meet sponsors, and visit some colleges.
