Disabled students learn under loving care of teachers

A new group of students with physical or mental disabilities have been enrolled into Jiading District's Chengjia School for the new term.

On the first day for grade one students, it all began in a loud crying.

At 8am, when 7-year-old Xiao Yi's grandmother just left, the girl started to cry for being afraid of the new environment. Soon all the kids in the class joined in the crying.

Teachers Gao Lihua and Wang Chunrong tried their best to calm them down. It was not until 10 minutes later that these 11 students stopped crying.

At 9am, Xiao Feng, who suffers from autism, looked out of the window at the gloomy weather.

He had tried in vain several times to leave the class, but finally he pooped his pants. Gao cleaned Xiao Feng and changed his clothes.

In the meantime, Xiao Yi had wet herself because she was afraid of strangers.

When each class was over, the two teachers would remind the kids to go to the toilet.

They soon learned the "special languages" of the students. For example, when Xiao Feng wants to eat, he would cry out and when he wants to go to the toilet, he pulls his trousers.

Different from kids in normal classes, the children here mainly learn self-care. Their first lesson is to get to know the school and the teachers showed them the washrooms and activity facilities.

During lunch, Xiao Yang had some difficulties eating with a spoon. Gao cleared of the rice he dropped on the table and taught him how to use a spoon.

Xiao Yu proved to be a picky eater and he just stared at the food, refusing to eat. Gao found some meat juice from the canteen and put it on the rice, and Xiao Yu couldn't resist the temptation and started to eat.

Shortly after 2pm, Gao prepared toy blocks for the kids to play. However, the kids made a mess and the blocks were scattered everywhere on the ground. The teachers taught them to pick up the blocks.

Gao said "Xiao Yu, would you help the blocks go back home?"

Xiao Yu picked up the blocks from the ground with the encouragement of Wang, and went to a basket.

Then he looked up at the teacher.

"Great! Now you can let go of the block and it can go back home," the teacher encouraged.

Xiao Yu let the block go and smiled.

At 3:45pm, the parents arrived at the school and picked up the students.
