District government listens to proposals

THE fourth session of the fourth Jiading People's Congress and the third session of the fourth Jiading Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference were held from January 6 to January 9.

A total of 209 proposals were submitted by delegates and members during the four-day meeting. Proposals covered issues such as economic development, science, technology, education, culture, sports, medicine, and sanitation.

Of the proposals, those concerning city construction and environmental protection accounted for the most at 34.4 percent.

With the increasing investment on the city infrastructure, it was proposed that the government should further improve the environment for its residents and greet the World Expo Shanghai 2010 with a grand new image.

To bring the district closer to the city's downtown, it was proposed that an exit should be established at the junction of Jinshajiang Road and the Outer-Ring Road.

Members of the Jiading Committee of the CPPCC also submitted proposals to establish an outdoor advertising system and work out an effective long-term management plan to improve the environment around the district's passenger transport centers.

During the former session of the fourth Jiading People's Congress held last year, the delegates submitted 79 proposals.

During the former session of the fourth Jiading Committee of the CPPCC held last year, 180 proposals were received.

All the proposals have been replied in written form, and all the delegates and members are satisfied.
