Experts share their medical know-how at symposium

The Eighth Annual Shanghai Symposium and Family Training Session on Sino-US Family Medicine was held in Jiading. Foreign experts gave seminars, case studies and lectures.
At Anting Social Welfare Home, American experts gave a demonstration of physical checks, and consulted two patients about their problems, giving them advice on medicinal consumption and caring for wounds.
The experts also checked the patients’ appetite, and whether they smoke or drink. Other than that, they paid attention to the mood and emotional state of the patients, said general practitioner Shen Xiaojie.
At the forum, Jiading Health and Family Planning Commission and Tongji University School of Medicine signed a cooperation agreement.
It stipulates that Jiading district government will increase investment and introduce more preferential policies to help TUSM build better medical disciplines, increase their comprehensive medical capabilities and attract more talents. It also aims to build the general practice professionals’ cultivation model, namely, from TUSM, to Tongji’s affiliated hospitals, and finally to affiliated community health centers within three years, in order to improve the community-oriented primary health care.
In July, community health centers in Nanxiang and Anting towns were selected into the preparation list of TUSM’s affiliated heath centers.
