Flow of foreign funds hits target
JIADING District attracted US$478.52 million worth of contracted foreign capital from January to August, achieving its investment increase target of 56.3 percent.
The investment included three corporate headquarters: Fenner from the United Kingdom, Metso from Finland and Geberit from Switzerland. So far, Jiading is host to six regional headquarters and is ranked first in the suburbs.
In addition to the three corporate headquarters, two research centers, Henkin from South Korea, UPR from Singapore and Aurora from Taiwan have secured investment. In addition, Juki from Japan has further invested US$16.1 million in its regional headquarters.
During the first half of this year, foreign investment in regional headquarters reached US$125 million, accounting for 29.4 percent of the total contracted foreign investment for the same period. In addition, there are more than 10 companies interested in setting up regional headquarters in Jiading.
Among the three newly established corporate headquarters, Fenner from Britain has a total investment of US$12 million, producing inorganic metal and its products, non-metal moulds and others, primarily supplying to Volvo, Hyundai and other international auto manufacturers.
Finnish company Metso has a total investment of US$30 million and Geberit from Switzerland has a total investment of 20 million Swiss francs (US$19.5 million), the projects including production facilities, offices and a customer-tailored training center.
From January to August in Jiading, 39.9 percent of the total contracted foreign capital went to service industries. Of the newly approved projects, more than 20 have a total investment of US$10 million each and among them service industry projects account for more than half.
Real estate project, Shanghai Harmony, next to Metro Line 11 is a fairly big one, with a total investment of US$97.42 million. Aurora will increase its investment of US$49 million to establish a sales center.
