THE 2018 Jiading District Shopping and Tourism Festival kicks off on Friday and runs through October 21 with the theme “Joy, Integration and Interaction.”
It is a warm-up for the first China International Import Expo in November and aims to boost integrated development between commerce, tourism and culture and raise the degree of tourism participation among Shanghai citizens.
The festival comprises six modules of 27 activities, with an opening ceremony at the Xiyunlou Shanghai-style shopping street on Friday.
The “Fun with Vehicles” module features car and cycling races, a motor vehicle exhibition, a car culture fair and a car experience activity.
The “Leisurely Feeling, Elegant Charm” module will include a xiaolongbao, or small steamed bun, cultural festival, a Confucius cultural festival, a folklore festival, concerts, craft activities and a Xiyunlou cultural and art festival.
The “Leisure Pastoral Season” module features orienteering, a rural festival, a fruit carnival and a DIY gathering under an old tree.
“Enjoy Life Season” includes different shopping festivals, a German beer festival, a drama season and a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.
The 2018 Jiading Shopping and Tourism Festival also encourages Shanghai citizens to travel outside Shanghai to places in the Yangtze River Delta Region like neighboring Kunshan and Taicang cities in Jiangsu Province and Wenzhou City in Zhejiang Province.
The “Yangtze River Delta Region Interactive Tour Season” therefore includes tours around Shanghai. The delta region citizens can travel in each other’s hometowns.
