Have a happy weekend at Shanghai International Circuit

FOR an exciting way to spend the weekend, the Shanghai International Circuit could be the perfect choice. The attention of Formula One fans from around the world will be focused on Shanghai on April 18-20, but the Chinese Grand Prix isn’t the only highlight to be enjoyed at the circuit.

There is much fun to be had, including riding on horseback, playing golf, flying like a bird in a wind tunnel, going kart racing, driving an all-terrain vehicle on a cross-country track and even taking part in a laser shooting game in camouflage clothing.

Horse racing

The Zeng’ai Shishun Horse Race Training Center covers 9 hectares and boasts a host of advanced facilities, including a 1,100-meter sand runway, sand circle, outdoor practice course, 1,500-square-meter indoor practice course, Olympic standard stables and horse training rings.

In addition, the center has a professional horse racing team with international coaches, jockeys, trainers and veterinarians.

All the horses are imported thoroughbreds selected for their strength and mild disposition.

Lessons at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels are on offer and the center also organizes regular activities to allow trainees to enjoy the thrill of horse racing.

The center is also equipped with electronic “horses” that can simulate the real thing to provide a riding experience for beginners.

Wind tunnel flying

People can defy gravity in the Wind Tunnel Flying Experience Center. The center, the first of its kind in China, allows people to experience the feeling of flying like a bird.

The 66-hectare Shanghai Boerdi Golf Club is an 18-hole course designed by Zheng Xiang from Taiwan. Outside the course, there is a restaurant, bar, VIP room and franchise store.

There’s also a practice course.

Kart circuit

The kart circuit, built to international standards, can host competitions at different levels, and organizes various recreational activities and training.

There’s also a 1,560-meter-long ATV cross-country track.

Also on offer is a laser shooting experience where you dress up in camouflage uniform, arm yourself and go “into battle” against the enemy.
