Intelligent apartment opens its doors to the public
LOCAL residents are able to explore the life in digital and Internet era in the first "intelligent apartment" in Jiading District. The newly-completed demonstration apartment with a remote control system is a good sample with local government's efforts to build Jiading into a "wireless city."
The model apartment in Yangguang Neighborhood near the Poly Lake shows no difference in its interior decoration with other modern flats at the first sight. However, "secrets" are hidden everywhere in the rooms, from the kitchen to the living room. Holding a terminal device outside the house, you can turn on or off all the electrical appliances in the house.
According to Zhou Guo, chief of CECT-ChinaComm Communications Co Ltd Shanghai, the householders will receive warning text messages on their mobile phones when gas leaks. Cameras installed in each room can transfer real-time images so that the apartment owner can monitor the apartment on the screen of the terminal from different angles. The safety control system will also inform the householders immediately if anyone breaks into the rooms, added Zhou. What's more, the householders can remotely turn on the rice cooker or water heater on their way home. When arriving, a good meal is just at table.
Jiading householders can spent 20,000 to 40,000 yuan to equip their homes with the system in line with personalized needs. The renovation usually takes less than five days to complete.
CECT-ChinaComm is to launch applications on Apple's App Store and Android Market. Smart phones users soon will be able to use their mobile phones to control their intelligent apartment.
The company guarantees that household's data are "absolutely safe" under the protection of the double firewalls of Jiading "wireless city" and a real-name authentication database of the users.
