Internet contest

THE 2010 Creative and Practical Design Competition for the Internet of Things sponsored by the Jiading District government drew more than 2,500 entries. Officials deemed it a success. An awards ceremony will be held in November.

Bus reports
Eight media representatives visited the Jiading North Station on September 9 to collect information for reports on the development of Jiading buses.

Ancient study
Qianyan Hall, the study of Qian Daxin, a cultural celebrity in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in Jiading, will be relocated from Huating Town to Bole Square in Jiading Town. To complement the structure, the local government has bought eight ancient artifacts from Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces. The project will be completed by the end of the year.

Green lizard
A green lizard with a 70-centimeter-long tail was found in Jiangqiao Town. The reptile was transferred to the Jiading District Wildlife Station.

Women's exercise
The tutoring station at the Jiading District Children's Park and the exercise area on Yingyuan Square in the Xincheng Road Community have been designated as National Women's Exercising Demonstration Spots by the All-China Women's Federation.

Bus station
The Waigang bus station was completed on September 2. Built with an investment of 2 million yuan (US$298,500), the terminus covers an area of 3,300 square meters. The first 53 bus lines will begin operation from Waigang Town to Jiading New City this month.

School security
Almost 200 kindergartens, elementary and middle schools in Jiading District began the new semester this month with a variety of security measures. To safeguard children's safety, monitoring devices have been installed.

Seeking talent
A talent competition was held on September 8 at Juyuan New Area. In the next two months, participants will compete in three contests involving singing and role playing.

Preserving history
Jin Zhenyuan, a resident living at Yulan No. 4 Estate of Anting Town, donated his father's old possessions to the Jiading Archives Bureau recently to preserve some of the area's history.
