Jiading arrest drama unfolds in live police blog broadcast

"AMBUSH in progress, wait and see!" "When policemen came out in front of him, he was shocked!" These quotes came from live footage of a police crackdown broadcast by Jiading Public Security Bureau on its official weibo on February 2.

In this action, policemen caught five suspects and busted a robbery of raw materials in a factory in Huating area.

The live broadcast gave netizens a strong sense of the scene and provided a opportunity to learn about the life of policemen at the frontline of fighting crime.

Doormen surnamed Wang and Shen at a metal production company on Huali Road were on duty at midnight on January 22 - Chinese New Year Eve. Suddenly Wang heard the sound of motorcycles approaching. As soon as Wang opened the door, several masked men rushed into the room and overwhelmed the two doormen. They robbed the doormen of 1,200 yuan (US$190) at knife point. Then the masked men found the keys to a warehouse.

Twenty minutes later, a factory director and his wife arrived and called loudly for help. Policemen from Tanghang Police Station quickly cordoned off the area, but the suspects had managed to escape in the darkness.

Police found that the suspects had opened the door of finished products area with keys, they entered the raw material warehouse and moved boxes of alloys onto a truck parked in the factory.

Policemen suspected that the suspects might have connections inside the company as they were very familiar with the factory and knew which materials are the most valuable. The total value of the materials was over 500,000 yuan.

After checking the video surveillance, police found that a three-wheeled motorcycle might have been used in the robbery.

Police investigated over 800 existing and former employees in the plant, and put their focus on the staff working close to the two warehouses. During the survey, policemen found an employee surnamed Zhang pretended to be calm. And they found he had a cousin surnamed Yang in the fruit business with a three-wheeled motorcycle. The police gradually had a clear picture of the identity of the other three suspects.

Five police teams respectively carried out the arrest of the five suspects in the morning of February 2. Meanwhile, Jiading Public Security immediately started a live broadcast of the hunt.
