Micro-tech center taps into IT trends
Jiading-based Shanghai Micro-Technology Industrial Research Institute has opened its Silicon Valley Innovation Center in California to take advantage of the development of the Internet of Things.
With a focus on sophisticated Internet communication, the institute is a fusion of different technologies and innovations such as micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), opto-electronics, analogue and Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits, power and micro energy, and bio and chemical sensing.
However, it needs to develop innovation synergies for new materials, technologies, design and manufacturing. Currently only large groups have the ability to do sustainable research and innovation in this area.
鈥淭he establishment of the Silicon Valley Innovation Center fundamentally solves the bottleneck problem and accelerates innovation, application and marketing of intelligent hardware in the Internet of Things,鈥 said Yang Xiao, chairman of Shanghai Industrial Micro-Technology Research Institute.
The institute will play a key role in accelerating the development of MEMS, sensors, and new Internet of Things applications in China, said a senior director of IHS Technology. Venture capital is being sought.
