New app lets retailers set up their cloud shops
AN app developed by a Jiading firm enables business people to have both online shops and physical outlets.
Cloud Shop provides users with a tailored service to open their online stores for free.
“We charge store owners up to 16 percent of the prices of sold items. That’s the way we make profits,” said Liu Tao who developed the app.
Liu is the founder of Hope Information Systems Co in Jiading. “Cloud Shop is different from shops on Taobao and WeChat,” Liu said. “Although many think that physical shops will be gradually sifted out by e-commerce, we feel it is an opportunity to help store owners launch their business online.
“It is an entirely new shopping experience when buyers enjoy both the convenience online and the real items offline,” he added.
Setting up a store on Cloud Shop requires only two steps — download the app and contact the agent.
Cloud Shop equips each contractor with an agent who offers door-to-door services including planning, photography and promotion.
After the items are sold, the app rewards the agent with 30 percent of the profit.
Cloud Shop has set up eight business regions around the country.
Since the app debuted in May, it has had more than 8,000 contractors. All of them have physical outlets around consumers’ neighborhoods.
