Prepaid card a key to new tourism moves

APREPAID card, which can be used at sightseeing spots as well as for public transport, dining and cultural performances, will be launched officially on Wednesday.
A meeting on how to use a prepaid card issued by Shanghai Tourism Administrative Commission was held in Jiading District on June 22 for representatives from the district's tourism industry.
The cards will come in 500 yuan (US$73.1) and 1,000 yuan denominations. Tourists will get discounts depending on how many days they stay in the city.
To Jiading, which is undergoing a new stage in tourism development, the prepaid card will further combine the district's best tourist resources, stimulate consumption and accelerate the development of modern service standards.
Currently, Shanghai International Circuit and Shanghai Liudao Resort are among the list of merchants where this card could be used. Thirty more tourism units will sign the agreement by early July.
With Shanghai Malu Grape Festival to start in Jiading on July 5 and run through to October 7, tourism is getting hotter with the start of summer holidays in and outside the district.
On June 23, 14 students registered for group tourism at Jiading Tourism Consultation Service Center.
After the conclusion of college entrance examinations, the center receives 20 to 30 students and parents each day.
Destinations such as Lin'an and Qiandao Lake in Zhejiang Province are popular. These short trips cost from 200 to 800 yuan.
"They have really worked hard to take the college entrance examination," said the mother of Lu Wenwen, a local exam-taker. "Now it's over and time for her good relaxation."
