Projects transform economic structure
AFTER two years' effort, the Shanghai High Energy Auto Electronic Company has completed its relocation from Minhang District to Jiading.
Its new production base in Waigang Industrial Park, with an investment of nearly 100 million yuan (US$16.31 million), became operational in January.
In Jiading, the settlement of a number of high-tech projects has promoted the district's economic structure transformation. Now many new energy automobile research and development centers and factories like High Energy are located around Waigang New Energy Automobile and Key Parts Industrial Base, making the base a production and export center of new energy cars.
Many other areas in Jiading are also benefiting from big projects.
'Asia No. 1'
Jiading Industrial Zone, a neighbor of Waigang, has seen the settlement of projects valued at several billion yuan.
The "Asia No.1" of Jingdong, as the biggest intelligent logistics center in Asia, will soon be constructed in the second half of this year. Eight times the area of the National Stadium in Beijing, the center will be partly put into use by the end of this year to support the operation of www.jd.com, one of China's biggest online markets with an annual business volume reaching 30 to 40 billion yuan.
Some supporting projects with over 100 million yuan in investment have also been launched. Sixteen enterprises including Volkswagen Motivation, Lianying Screws and New Life Group will have their projects in Jiading in production, making the industrial park stronger.
Bottlenecks
However, Jiading still faces some development bottlenecks, such as the limited space for new projects, officials said. In response, the government will concentrate on office buildings and headquarters. The first period plan of Jiading's headquarters integration area will be completed this year, and 300,000 square meters of office buildings in the area will start construction later this year.
