Renting an electric vehicle

ELECTRIC cars for rent will be available as soon as April, the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Information said.
By the end of last year, car rental companies in the city had purchased altogether 148 new energy vehicles. Shanghai Bus Automobile Rent Service Company bought 97 Roewe E50 electric cars and said they will start renting them in early April for less than 200 yuan (US$32) per day.
Long-term rental plans will mainly serve government organs and enterprises. About 60 percent of the cars will be reserved for long-term rentals.
Short-term rentals will be aimed at individuals. The Roewe E50 can be rented at U-lin Car Rent (Tel: 4008-841-841) with an expected daily fee of more than 100 yuan. Statistics show electric cars can save more than 100 yuan in energy cost per day compared with traditional automobiles.
