Scenic spots spruced up with repairs and festivals planned
SIX scenic spots in Jiading District have been all set for action since the "Shanghai Urban and Rural Interactive Expo Experience Trip" kicked off on March 25.
They are Zhouqiao Old Street, Nanxiang Ancient Town, Anting Auto Culture, Malu Grape Park, Huating Farmer's Family and Lotus New City.
During the Expo, the district's tourism department will integrate local tourism resources, improve facilities at scenic spots, and organize a series of festivals and activities.
The expansion project of Guyi Garden since last year has almost finished. Before May 1, it will take on a new look with hills and a luxurious bamboo forest.
The renovation of ancient buildings affected 1,751 square meters of space. Facilities such as toilets, sidewalk for the blind and tourism service center have been improved.
From June 18 to October 17, Guyi Garden will host the Shanghai Bamboo Culture Festival.
The second renovation phase of Zhouqiao Old Street was kicked off recently. By moving old houses from Anhui and Jiangxi provinces to the district, the area will again have classic buildings with large courtyards. It will take three months to finish the project.
"Attractions at Zhouqiao Old Street are actually mixed," said Chen Ping, general manager of Jiading Zhouqiao Old Street Tourism Development Co Ltd.
"Visitors can not only taste the fermented bean curd but also visit private museums."
From July to September, Malu Grape Park will host Malu Grape Culture Festival. To better serve tourists, the park has 50 English or Chinese speaking guides and 50 waitresses and waiters. Volunteers who can speak other languages except Chinese and English will be recruited as well.
Malu Grape Park official Shan Tao said total output from 34 hectares of grape field will be 300,000 kilograms this year, up by 75,000 kilograms over last year.
