Shanghai Digital Auto Park launches 2025 ESG drive
Shanghai Digital Auto Park recently launched its 2025 ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiative, transforming abstract ESG concepts into observable, tangible and practical experiences through live drills and knowledge-sharing sessions.
ESG, a framework for assessing corporate sustainability and social responsibility, helps companies optimize governance, improve energy efficiency and ensure production safety and employee well-being, directly reducing costs, enhancing efficiency and mitigating operational and regulatory risks.
On November 18, ZF Automotive Systems Electronics Plant conducted an innovative live drill simulating responses to hazardous chemical leaks and sudden fires in its smart factory.
By creating a smart safety management system that allows people and machines to work together and understand all situations, along with a smart low-carbon management system and projects like reusing wastewater and upgrading technology for activated carbon tanks, the plant has saved 2,000 MWh of electricity each year and cut carbon emissions by more than 2,700 tons. These efforts led to its recognition as a 2025 Outstanding Smart Factory.
During the event, the Smart Factory ESG Alliance was established, with 19 smart factories, including ZF, Aptiv, Fuyao Group and Shanghai Huizhong, participating as founding members. The alliance aims to address systemic sustainability challenges by sharing best practices and fostering collaborative technological innovation.
To date, Shanghai Digital Auto Park has organized nearly 20 training sessions on environmental protection and safety this year, supporting enterprises in building “green factory” capabilities.
