Tunnel through way to open

THE new tunnel under the A30 Expressway will be open at the end of the year, connecting the old town of Jiading with Jiading New City.
The 150 million yuan (US$23 million) project, which began two years ago, has four traffic lanes running for more than 600 meters. The tunnel is 4.7 meters high and 21.5 meters wide.
The new thoroughfare will end a much longer, round-about way of getting between the two areas of the district. That will help smooth flow of traffic in the district.
The tunnel also carries utility lines.
