PHILIPS Lighting Luminaires (Shanghai) Co won recognition as a "National Model Workers' Home" recently by All China Federation of Trade Unions. The award, which is given out once every five years, was given to 40 units from Shanghai, but Philips was the only foreign-owned enterprise among the recipients and the only one from Jiading.
Pumping
Shanghai Kaiquan Pump (Group) Co recently won the bid to build the pump station for the south-to-north water transfer project in Huai'an city, Jiangsu province. The group is one of China's leading pump supply companies, and is able to produce the pump with the diameter of 4.5 meters, the largest of its kind in Asia, which will be used in this station.
Efficiency
Energy-saving technologies developed by Delphi Packard Electric System Co will be promoted for use among districts in Jiading. Last year, Delphi products were credited with saving 1.76 million yuan (US$265,180) in energy costs.
E-commerce
Lvmama.com, a tourism ticket e-commerce site, signed a contract with YeePay recently. In the future, tourists will be able to benefit not only from an online banking system but also payment with only credit card information.
New library
The construction of Jiading New City Library is now in full swing, and the main structure of it will be topped by the end of the year. Covering an area of 22,600 square meters, the building has three stories, including one underground.
Eye on art
Shanghai Malu Art Village, which has applied for position as a national 4A scenic destination, has undergone and passed the first round of assessment by officials from the Shanghai Tourism Administration.
Cooperation
The 2010 cross-strait e-commerce industry cooperation conference was held recently in Jiading. More than 10 company representatives delivered speeches at the forum.

The integration of a digital cable-TV network in Jiading is almost completed. The cabling now has been extended to cover nine towns and communities.
