Xifan to take its 3D printers to school

Shanghai Xifan Science & Technology Co Ltd, a startup company and the first to focus on the research and development of 3D printing technology in Jiading Automobile City, is to cooperate with Jiading No.1 High School so the 3D printing society of the school can use the entry-level 3D printer in the company as its training equipment.

Xifan designs and produces advanced 3D printers and provides a 3D printing service for enterprises, individuals and research institutes in product design and customization.

Wang Gang, founder of Xifan, used to work for two automobile companies after graduating from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. “I started my own business because I see a promising future in 3D printing,” Wang said. “The automobile industry is our current focus in terms of marketing because I’m familiar with it.”

So far, Xifan has won an order to design a 3D printing application plan for Magna Shanghai, where Wang used to work. In the future, the company will also try to establish an industrial-level 3D printing technology application center in Anting Town to serve companies in and around Automobile City.

One of the latest products from Xifan is an entry-level 3D printer. It’s affordable, at around 2,000 to 3,000 yuan (US$470). It can be assembled and disassembled easily so customers can learn and understand how it works. This printer will first be promoted and sold in local schools.

Meanwhile, Xifan is working on a business-use desktop 3D printer, which can print industrial grade objects.
