JING’AN District Party chief An Lusheng and director Lu Xiaodong have been put in charge of local rivers, with responsibility to preserve water quality. It is the first time that leading officials will have personal performances tied to river quality within their jurisdictions. Those found neglecting those duties will face repercussions. Last year, five waterways in Jing’an were designated “cleaned up” as part of a broader plan for a greener environment.
