AEDs for communities

Minhang District has given out 1,450 AEDs to residential communities in 14 subdistricts and towns, including Xinzhuang Industrial Zone. Most installations are in Pujiang, Meilong, Xinzhuang, and Qibao towns, each receiving over 150 units. The use of an AED during cardiac arrest can increase survival by 40 percent. To make emergency identification and use easier, the devices are installed in highly visible, unobstructed locations with standard “AED” signage. Additionally, the district’s health commission and the Red Cross Society are providing on-site AED training for neighborhood committee members, property security officers, community volunteers, and corporate employees.
