THE Shanghai City Theatre in Minhang will stage a ballet in June to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, which falls on July 1. "The White-Haired Girl" to be performed by the Shanghai Ballet Troupe is adapted from a popular legend in north China about a poor girl who escapes marriage to a landlord by hiding herself in the mountains. Her hair turns white from lack of food, and she is eventually rescued by the Red Army. The ballet will be staged at 7:30pm on June 24-26. Ticket prices range between 80 yuan (US$12.32) and 280 yuan.
