Bookshop’s new home

The Xinhua Book Store, which had to close its popular outlet on Xinjian Road in Xinzhuang after a rent dispute with the landlord, has now been relocated to a site on Xinsong Road, with the help of the Minhang District government and Xinzhuang Town.
The new site, covering 766 square meters, has annual rent of 1.4 million yuan (US$228,713).
Pan Yuping, manager of the store, said the relocation is perfect, although the size of the bookstore will now be smaller and the books on offer fewer.
The quantity of books will be slightly reduced due to the smaller space, but the store will make the books turn over faster to guarantee the quality of books, Pan said.
