Four new Metro stations open on Line 10
FOUR new stations of Metro Line 10 went into service recently, adding another option to the Hongqiao transport hub besides Metro Line 2.
The four stops are Shanghai Zoo, Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1, Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 and the Hongqiao Railway Station.
Line 10, which stretches 36 kilometers, now has 31 stops. It runs through eight districts, from the city's northeast to the southwest, starting at the Xinjiangwan Station in the north.
At its west end at Longxi Road Station, Line 10 splits into two routes - one leading to the transport hub; the other to Hangzhong Road.
Metro operators reminded passengers heading for the fork routes to pay special attention to public announcements and screens in stations to avoid jumping on the wrong trains.
Those who goof can disembark at any stop between the Xinjiangwan Station and Longxi Road Station and wait for the correct one train.
The first train of Line 10 departs from Xinjiangwan at 5:30am, from Hongqiao at 5:55am and from Hangzhong Road at 5:30am. Daily operations end at about 10pm at these terminals.
There are 27 trains running on Metro Line 10 plus three reserve trains running during peak hours. From 7am to 7pm, the interval between trains between Hangzhong Road and Longxi Road, and between the Hongqiao transport hub and Longxi Road, is about 10 minutes. Between Longxi Road and Xinjiangwan, the average wait is five minutes.
Passengers can transfer to Metro Line 2 at the Hongqiao Railway Station.
Metro Line 10 passes through many popular downtown areas of Shanghai, including Nanjing Road E. and the Yuyuan Garden, and also has stops at the major shopping and commercial centers of Xujiahui and Wujiaochang.
