Golden autumn tourist fest kicks off
THE grand opening of 2010 Minhang Tourism Festival took place on the evening of Sept 20 in Zhaojialou Old Town. During the festival, Minhang will welcome visitors from all over the world with creative arts, delicious food and other traditional cultures.
The 2010 Minhang Tourism Festival is themed "Golden Autumn, in the Home Town of City God" and will last for three weeks.
This time, the festival will get closer to common citizens and try to expand the participation.
During the three weeks, a series of tourist activities will take place to display the features of Minhang.
Innovative Zones
When talking about innovative zones in Shanghai, people may usually think of some well-known ones such as Tianzifang, Bridge No. 8, M50 or Hongfang.
And this time, the festival will introduce some innovative zones located in Minhang.
For example, the 439 Innovative Zone which is known for its textile art will hold a cloth exhibition during the festival.
Other culture exhibitions such as Xinzhuang crocheting art, Jinshan silk blanket and Li Liming Cloth Pavilion will also bring visitors the beauty of Minhang folk arts.
New Style of Folk Culture
In many visitors' minds, the first impression of Minhang's scene is the old water town with old lanes and bridges. And for this year, Minhang will continue to focus on the feature of the district's history.
For example, in Maqiao Town, visitors will be invited to Yutang Village in the town to see the site of Maqiao Ancient Civilization which left a very important page in the history roll of Shanghai. While in Qibao Old Town, visitors will participate in the selection of "My Favorite Nosh" to name the most popular folk food of Qibao Town among those famous ones such as Qibao square paste, crabapple cake, xiaolongbao (steamed buns)and stinky bean curd.
Besides that, the folk music performance in Beiqiao Horticultural Exposition Garden, paper-cut exhibition in Zhuanqiao Town will also establish a good cultural environment for the festival.
