A total of 649 applicants met the initial criteria to qualify for the second round of low-cost housing in Minhang. Their applications are now going through a more thorough vetting that includes scrutiny by housing, tax, civil affairs and public security administrations.
The latest project, located in the Junlian Residential Community, attracted 3,361 applications from people who can't afford high home prices. Hundreds of budget apartments are available in the new project, with prices up to 50 percent cheaper than non-subsidized housing.
