New energy sales to hit 25 billion yuan in 2012
THE annual sales volume of Minhang's new energy industry is set to hit 25 billion yuan (US$3.66 billion) in 2012, with an annual increase of 35 percent during 2009-2012. It aims to form an integrated industrial chain, from new energy research and development to product manufacturing, according to a newly released report from the district's new energy development blueprint.
Minhang has been the city's photovoltaic solar energy base for years with a 350,000-kilowatt production capacity of solar cells. Currently, four Minhang-based enterprises -- Shanghai Solar Energy, Shanghai Topsolar Green Energy, Boneng Solar Energy and Perfectenergy -- have reached annual sales of 2.54 billion yuan.
The Shangde Solar Energy Power Co, the country's largest crystal silicon solar cell producer based in Pujiang Hi-tech Park, recently started its production line with 200KW silicon thin film solar cells.
Enterprises engaged in nuclear science and wind power research and development, such as CPI Power Engineering and Shanghai Electric Wind, have chosen Minhang as their headquarters. As well, the district is home to six energy R&D institutions, such as the Shanghai Clean Energy Development Center and the Shanghai Energy College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
By the end of 2012, Minhang will have had an annual production capacity of 1 million KW in various types of photovoltaic cells manufacturing and 2,000KW wind turbines. With its target to become the city's hub of new energy development and production, the district government launched a series of preferential policies to enterprises. Each production line of above 25,000KW silicon thin film solar cells will get 10 million-yuan subsidy and 5 million yuan for that under 25,000KW. A foundation will be set up with an annual sponsorship of 300 million yuan to foster young energy enterprises.
