Recruitment goes up market for ubran management staff
MINHANG District said it will recruit 50 people with tertiary educations and quality credentials to improve its urban management team.
The first interview of 153 candidates included 28 who hold master's degrees. They were culled from 1,500 applicants through a written examination.
"People may think it waste of talent for post-graduates to do this kind of work, but all walks of life needs high-class talent," said Chen Guoxing, an official with Minhang's urban management team.
The team said the common perception is that urban management officials do nothing more than shoo away unlicensed street vendors. In fact, the work is much more complicated, involving responsibilities such as urban planning for parks and greenbelts.
The team said Minhang is allocated 727 urban management officials, and there are now about 200 vacant positions. The recruitment program will continue into next year.
