‘Sharing’ trend expands options for breakfast
Buying breakfast is turning into a one-stop shopping experience as shop owners promote the trend of “breakfast-sharing.”
Under this trend, food from various brands can be purchased at an eatery just steps away from your home.
Two Laoshengchang Dumplings shops in Minhang District have started to sell an array of breakfast products alongside their meal menus, including products from Qingmei, Babi Mantou and Shendacheng.
“There’s no Shendacheng or Qingmei near my housing estate on Gumei Road,” said one resident. “But I discovered that Laoshengchang started to sell these products two days ago, and I bought something from each brand. It really opens up the options I have for breakfast.”
The shop owner of the Laoshengchang on Gumei Road said there’s a 10-minute queue every morning.”
The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce says that Qingmei’s deep-fried dough sticks and noodles have appeared in over 100 stores, Babi Mantou can be purchased in 20 Jixiang Dumplings stores. Customers can buy Bright Diary products in 555 Babi Mantou stores.
The price for a pack of Babi Mantou is between 16 yuan (US$2.4) and 27 yuan.
