Short film celebrates 20 years in a town

XINZHUANG Town celebrated its 20th anniversary by launching a film short called "The Era of Happiness in Xinzhuang."
Produced by the local government, the film depicts the lives of three generations native to Xinzhuang, set against the backdrop of changing times.
"It is a work that originates in real life," said Li Shuyi, a local resident.
"When I watched it, it reminded me of what the town used to be like - rural views, roads, rivers and buildings. It makes us locals nostalgic."
Xinzhuang was originally a farm community. Since then, urban developed has knocked on its door, transforming the area into a town of high-rises and industrial development, Metro lines, expressways and elevated roads.
In the past 20 years, the total output value of Xinzhuang has surged 60-fold to 9.7 billion yuan (US$1.57 billion).
During the same two decades, the population has mushroomed to 290,000 from 11,000.
The film has been aired at community activity centers to reach the widest number of residents.
