The perfect day
OCTOBER 10, 2010 was a special day for Chinese lovers, because there were three "tens" in the date. In Chinese, "ten" means perfect. Therefore, it has become one of the most popular days for couples to get married. On that day, many new couples and their relatives and friends flooded into the Minhang Marriage Registration Center.
According to the registration center, 626 couples registered for their marriage that day, which made it a record - 95 couples higher than September 9, 2009, which represented "forever" for the Chinese. The registration center usually opens at 8:30am, but on October 10, it opened very early. By 7am, the first couple, Zhou Mingyuan from Wujing and Wu Ying from Zhuanqiao, had already got registered. After getting married, they signed their names on the Expo wall at the center to give their best wishes to the Shanghai Expo.
