Villagers send winter clothes to Sichuan
"I want to donate this quilt and winter clothes," said Gong, who brought winter clothing last Monday to Xihuan No. 1 Village residential committee.
The drive to collect winter clothing and bedding for people affected by the Sichuan and Yunnan earthquakes has touched the hearts of Minhang District residents.
The cadre of Xihuan neighborhood committee said that within just two days, 51 households had donated quilts and clothes to the collection.
Sixteen residents donated a total of 4,000 yuan (US$586), including one Party member who donated 2,000 yuan.
The neighborhood's storage room has been almost filled with residents' donations of blankets, overcoats and winter clothes.
The collection, with the theme of "Give Warmth, Dedicate Love," was recently sent to Yunnan and Sichuan provinces.
Civil administration departments set up several donation points in the district for residents to contribute.
