A SURVEY of water pipes was conducted in the district after Shanghai was hit by a massive cold front. Many families reported frozen or leaking pipes. In one case, a 1.8-meter pipe on Hongmei Road South burst, causing flooding in the surrounding vicinity. Precautions will be taken to prepare for future extreme weathers, district water authorities said.
