Community store offers bargains

THE first community store has opened in Putuo's Changshou area, for donating and exchanging second-hand clothing and other items - and for picking up a bargain.
"We always pick the best items for the store," said Zhao Baolong, a volunteer at the store on Changshou Road.
The store is proving popular, some days receiving donations of around 100 items of clothing.
Price are very cheap, with bargains on offer when Shanghai Daily visited including an Adidas hoodie for 30 yuan (US$4.9) and children's shoes for 2 yuan.
The store also has electrical goods, toys and stationery.
Organizers praised locals for their generosity, with one resident alone donating 60 sweaters and 139 items of women's clothes.
"People come here to donate and show a loving heart, and we're always glad of more joining us," Zhao said. "Charity work not only makes others happy, but makes ourselves happy too."
