New sourcing center builds bridges of commerce

Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing in Putuo District is a new joint project that provides a comprehensive platform for exhibition, convention, activity and commerce.
Located on the north bank of Suzhou Creek in Changfeng Ecological Business District, the center with an area of 141,702 square meters will accommodate meetings and exhibitions regularly, as well as office and commerce uses.
The Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Center (ICPC), one of the groups behind building the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing, was established in 2002 and dedicated to providing trade service platforms for buyers and suppliers. It is crucial to wise utilization of resources and the multiplier effect of Shanghai as an economic center to ensure continuous development of Chinese foreign trade.
Its mission is to build a bridge for international buyers and Chinese suppliers, opening the doors of the Chinese market for foreign products.
The 2013 Private Label Fair in December was the first event held at the new center. The annual fair, presented by Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Center and Private Label Manufacturers Association and supported by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, has 30 years of history overseas, and it was first held in Shanghai in 2010.
The 2014 Private Label Fair is set to be held here as well on December 10-12.
The center hosts events and meetings every month on average, including international summits and fairs.
Medical summits planned
Two medical summits are scheduled to be held at the center in March: the CIT 2014 (China Interventional Therapeutics in Partnership with TCT) from March 20-23 and the 14th International Congress of Ophthalmology and Optometry China from March 27-30.
The 13th International Sourcing Fair (Shanghai, China) will also take place at Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing this year from September 17-19. It’s a national fair organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. International buyers will set up booths and suppliers all over China will be coming.
The main buyers include Benteler Group, Andritz Group, DAKOKO International, Briggs & Stratton Corporation and more.
The fair will also host seminars on various topics.
This newly constructed center also has a one-stop service hall that will provides assistance including Customs, banks, outward transport, international commerce chambers and business services.
It was financed by the Shanghai Changfeng Sourcing Investment Company. The shell-shaped architecture was designed by Dao Design. It has three essential zones.
One of city’s largest venues
The exhibition hall with an area of 16,000 square meters is a large venue that can hold various exhibitions such as banquets, fashion shows, new car launch events and more. It is a platform serving not only the Yangtze River Delta, but also the country and internationally. It can provide 890 standard booths.
The meeting space covering 9,000 square meters is one of the largest centers in Shanghai. It consists of the Pearl Hall — a 3,000-square-meter meeting room without any columns, 20 conference rooms including remote video conference room, a VIP meeting room as well as a multi-function room and others in different sizes to meet different needs.
The catering area can provide for both banquets and simple working dinners and tea breaks.
Various styles of cuisine are offered, both Chinese and Western. The open garden restaurant on the rooftop has a fantastic view of Suzhou Creek and the city.
In addition, the center has parking lots with a capacity of 802 cars. Nearby there are Metro lines 2, 13 and 15. Shuttle buses can connect the center and surrounding bus stations. Other supporting facilities include 11 five- and four-star hotels, and over 30 business hotels around the center that are within a radius of 2 kilometers.
