Baihe ensures year-round strawberry production

Looking for fresh, tasty strawberries every day of the year? The Baihe Smart Strawberry Plant is here!

The plant recently built its first production warehouse, symbolizing its modern agricultural base that integrates technical R&D and intelligent production.

A full-range intelligent environmental control system regulates critical environmental factors within the plant, utilizing cutting-edge environmental control and production management technology. Totally independent of seasons and weather, it allows year-round strawberry production.

Additionally, the workshop has a closed-loop integrated water and fertilizer system. Targeted drip irrigation delivers nutrient solutions to crops, while excess solutions are recovered, disinfected, reconfigured and reused, increasing water utilization efficiency to over 90 percent.

For green, eco-friendly strawberries, pesticide residues, soil heavy metal contamination, artificial ripening agents and hormones are eliminated during production.

Smart environmental control

“The No. 2 Workshop of the factory is now in operation, with around 6,000 strawberry seedlings planted,” said Baihe Town Agriculture Co’s manager Yang Wenchao.

“When fully operational, the workshop will produce 7 to 8 tons of strawberries annually. The first quarter of next year will see other workplaces fully operational after equipment installation and commissioning.”

Workers have cut the strawberry seedling cycle from 60 days to 35 days by properly managing temperature, light, water, air and fertilizer. The system’s exceptional seedling uniformity and above 99 percent seedling rate set the stage for high yield, premium quality and stable output.

Six production and growing workshops, a seedling R&D workshop, an intelligent sorting line workshop, an educational classroom and other facilities make up the factory.

The first batch of strawberry seedlings was transplanted into the factory this month. Compared to traditional field-grown strawberries, their growth cycle is shortened to two or three months, meaning the first crop will be ready for harvest in three months.
