Fashion center injects modern vitality to traditional qipao
In Fangxia Village, Qingpu’s Zhaoxiang Town, there stands an aesthetic palace that merges classic and modern, tradition and innovation — the Jingbo Qinhan Fashion Center.
Here, the qipao, a traditional Chinese women’s garment, has undergone the test of time and a century of evolution. It not only reveals new vitality but also transforms into a dazzling array of fashionable styles. As its founder, Zhu Ying combines traditional qipao with modern elements, presenting a novel aesthetic style that makes the qipao shine brilliantly.
Stepping into the center, you will see a wide range of exquisitely crafted qipao, which seem to narrate traces of history and cultural charm, fully demonstrating the allure of traditional Chinese costume culture.
Based on traditional craftsmanship, Zhu integrates qipao with fashion and daily life, continuously innovating its styles. This has made the qipao a name card for showcasing Shanghai-style culture to the world.
Meanwhile, Zhu collaborates with universities, providing students with qipao design internships and cultural and creative product development training, exploring the model of “cultural inheritance, technological innovation and industrial implementation.”
“Two teachers from our university are permanently stationed here, providing support in costume design and fashion digital technology,” said Xin Binjie, dean of the School of Textiles and Fashion at Shanghai University of Engineering Science.
Graduate and undergraduate students from the university frequently come here to learn the market status of qipao and other garments, conduct graduation design, and their works are displayed in the exhibition hall.
