CROQUET in Songjiang has become a popular pastime of the elderly in recent years. Currently, the district has 24 registered croquet teams, comprising 218 players, 66 referees and 51 coaches. The government has invested 1 million yuan (US$160,600) to support the development of the lawn game by building new facilities. Songjiang now has more than 400 croquet fields that attract more than 10,000 players every year.
