More men kindergarten teachers hired

SONGJIANG is trying to groom more men to work in pre-school centers ? a realm mostly filled by women.
There are an estimated 16 male pre-school teachers in the district, and special sessions have been organized to encourage interaction and support for the group.
Women have always been considered the ideal pre-school teachers because of their reputation for tenderness and caring. However, educational experts said men also have a role to play in early education.
"They are masculine, sports-oriented and energetic," said a director from Wenxiang Kindergarten, which recruited its first male teacher this year.
"They are more logical and less sentimental. For boys, a male teacher can teach them to be brave, while for girls, he can help them get along with boys."
