Seasonal carnival fun for everyone

The ongoing 2019 Sheshan Summer Carnival Season which runs through August is attracting tourists to more than 10 sites to experience events at Shanghai Happy Valley, Playa Maya Water Park, Chenshan Botanical Garden and an 88-meter-high rock climbing challenge.
The Playa Maya Water Park “zest season” that runs till September 8 is adding new elements such as electronic music and the participation of Internet celebrities. The Shanghai Happy Valley carnival season to end of August offers a new Shanghai Bund theme zone to lend visitors an old Shanghai-style atmosphere. A Mr Cookie Training Camp in the park is entertaining children with slides, swings and climbing walls.
At the InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland, or “Pit Hotel,” its almost vertical 88-meter-high cliff is posing a rock climbing challenge. Visitors, supported by professional coaches, can experience climbing to the top and back again. The activity should be booked 72 hours in advance.
Chenshan Botanical Garden is holding 13-18 summer camps during the vacation. It is offering students between the ages of 7 to 10 a two-day and one-night camp during which they will have lessons on plants and greenhouse visits at night guided by science teachers and outdoor activity coaches.
An activity promoting bird protection is under way at the Tianma Hill area of Sheshan National Forest Park till the end of August. Visitors can learn about conservation and experience close interaction with birds.
For foodies, a crayfish and beer festival is at the Gleetour Hotel.
The event runs to August 31 and customers can enjoy crayfish, outdoor barbecue and beer at a buffet price of 138 yuan (US$20).
