10th International Contemporary Theater Festival offers dramas for everyone
THE Shanghai International Contemporary Theater Festival, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, continues to invite theater groups from home and abroad to offer audiences a drama feast.
Nearly two dozen plays will be put on stage. In the highlighted Jon Foss Section, five dramas by the playwright will be staged: “A Summer’s Day,” “Dream of Autumn,” “I am the Wind,” “Deathvariations” and “Someone is Going to Come.” They will be presented, respectively, by theater groups from Russia, Iran, Italy, India and China’s Fujian Province.
“Waiting for Godot,” the classic absurdity play, will be presented by Gare St Lazare of Ireland. “The Tale of Lear” and “The Bald Soprano,” both written by Japanese theater director Suzuki Tadashi, are also recommended.
This year’s festival offers a children section providing two plays, “Cloud Man” and “Children’s Cheering Carpet: Saltbush” for family viewers.
In addition, outreach programs such as workshops, forums and post-show talks will be open to audiences.
The ticket office at Shanghai Drama Arts Center opens from 9am to 8pm. To book tickets and get further information, visit SDAC.taobao.com or dial the hotline 6473-0123 and 6473-4567.
