A pink ‘floating forest’ along Suzhou Creek
Spring is in the air — and so are cherry blossom, cosplay, and possibly your next favorite photo opportunity.
Through April 13, Shanghai’s iconic Suzhou Creek is going full sakura-core as the iconic Tian An 1000 Trees transforms into a pink-drenched dreamland.
Designed by Britain’s Thomas Heatherwick, this “floating forest” is now a love letter to spring, somewhere between a Miyazaki fantasy and Tokyo in bloom.
For four weeks, a 900-meter riverside stretch becomes a pastel wonderland of fluttering petals, surreal buildings, and open-top sakura cruises drifting through a sea of pink.
One side is pure blossom magic, the other reflects tree-covered towers twinkling on the water. It’s photo-perfect bliss.
Add glowing lanterns, a giant googly-eyed cherry blossom creature at the gate, and your Instagram won’t know what hit it.
Every weekend, the Sakura Spring Market bursts to life with garden goods, handcrafted treasures, dreamy desserts, tea, flowers, and more. One moment it’s cottagecore, the next it’s anime daydreams and neon flair.
From April 4 to 13, it’s Hanami time.
Think traditional Japanese flair meets Shanghai style, with sakura-limited treasures, rituals, and springtime treats that turn fleeting moments into lasting memories.
So ditch the ordinary — this season let the petals lead you into something magical.
